Jane Harman allegedly promised to lobby the Justice Department to reduce espionage-related charges against two top AIPAC officials
It is astounding to find that one of the handful of prospects being floated to become CIA director following the fall of General David Petraeus is a person reportedly implicated in a 2005 Israeli spy scandal.
CNN, Politico, and others have all listed former Congresswoman Jane Harman as a potential new CIA head. Oddly, however, none have mentioned reports in 2006 and again in 2009 that an NSA wiretap in 2005 had picked up Harman promising a suspected Israeli agent that she would aid people indicted for espionage on behalf of Israel.
According to reports, Harman allegedly told the Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department to reduce espionage-related charges against two top officials for the powerful Israel lobby organization, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
In return, the suspected Israeli agent (who may have been a dual-citizen American) reportedly pledged to help lobby for Harman to become chair of the House Intelligence Committee. Harman was already the ranking Democrat on the committee.

President Barack Obama has appealed to leaders of the US Congress to “work with common purpose” as he faces a new term with a still-divided House able to block his every move.
The Democrat was yesterday re-elected to the White House ahead of Republican Mitt Romney but voters preserved the status quo of divided government.
Democrats widened their control of the 100-member Senate by two but the Republicans kept their majority in the 435-member House.
The majority gives Republicans power to curb the president’s legislative ambitions on everything from taxes to immigration reform.
‘Seize this future together’
It means Obama must negotiate to try to overcome the partisan gridlock that gripped Washington for much of his first term.
At his victory rally in Chicago last night, Obama stressed the importance of working together.
“We can seize this future together because we are not as divided as our politics suggests,” he said.
In his concession speech, Romney also called for politicians from both sides to work together.
“Our leaders have to reach across the aisle to do the people’s work,” he said

An analyst believes that the war on Syria is being orchestrated by Britain with the help of the Saudi royal family.
Recently-released video footage showed insurgents executing another captured Syrian, raising further concern about insurgent brutality in the violence-stricken Arab state.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of Army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
