Carthage — The Presidency of the Republic firmly condemns “the coward Zionist attack” against Syria, considering that “the Israeli inclination to take advantage of the unstable situation in Syria confirms once more, Israel’s attempts to satisfy their territorial claims in the Arab region and destroy the Syrian people.”
In a communiqué made public on Monday, the Presidency of the Republic calls the international community and the Security Council to “condemn these criminal attacks which are a flagrant violation of the international pacts and principles,” estimating that the international community’s silence “will encourage Israel to commit more attacks, threatening the region’s fragile stability.”
The Presidency of the Republic specifies that “Tunisia has clearly been opposed, since the start of the crisis in Syria, to all foreign interference in the conflict”, describing the last “Zionist” raids against Syria as a “strategy” aimed to weaken this country and all Syrians, regardless of their positions vis-à-vis the conflict in their country.
“Tunisia which has supported the Syrian revolution, is convinced that the Syrian people’s quest for freedom is not less important than fight against the Zionist attack aimed to take advantage of the Syrian conflict”, the communiqué reads.
Israel launched two raids on Syria, Friday and Sunday.
