We must get alternative party candidates into the debates if they are ever going to have a viable chance of winning the Presidency.
The debates are organized by Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation run by the 2party system created to exclude alternative parties from participating in the debates. CPD sponsored all the presidential debates in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. 1992 was the only time an alternative party candidate was allowed in the debates.
And guess who is on the Board of the CPD? Athttp://www.debates.org/index.php?page=commission-leadership you can see for yourself it’s a bunch of 2arty system insiders.
What’s more, at http://www.debates.org/index.php?page=national-debate-sponsors you can see CPD is sponsored by a whole bunch or mega corporations.
Reading the CPD 2012 Candidate Selection Criteria, you can see that the criteria is difficult for alternative parties to attain especially considering the media bias/blackout.
A group called Open Debates was formed to pressure the CPD to get more alternative party options in the debates. However, athttp://www.opendebates.org/ you can see their website seems to leave a lot desired.
It’s up to all alternative party supporters and fair minded Democrats and Republicans to put demand that the Commission on Presidential Debates changes their criteria to enable the most commonly known alternative party’s (at least the top 5) candidates into the debates.
No surprise, there is no contact information provided on the CPD website so we need to find all of the phone numbers and email addresses of the CPD Board members.
Here are three:
