U.S. experts believe North Korea could be capable of conducting additional nuclear tests after just a couple of weeks,. but they admit that Pyongyang is unlikely to make such a move in the foreseeable future.
Renowned nuclear scientists Siegfried Hecker from Stanford University and Frank Pabian from Los Alamos National Laboratory have released a new analysis of the Punggye-ri test site using seismic information and commercial satellite images.
They say North Korea may decide to test both plutonium and highly enriched uranium devices simultaneously.
But they added that the political price of another test is probably too high.
Their findings were published in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists on Monday.
