A group of witnesses saw a UFO in broad daylight at Phoenix Mountain in Heilongjiang Province on July 8, 2012. The UFO sighting took place at approximately 3:42 p.m. Phoenix Mountain National Scenic Area in China is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
A professional photographer named Wu Chunyan was among the dozen witnesses present. Chunyan captured the unusual sight on camera. The UFO sighting was reported to the local authorities. According to Global Times, “Five tourists called police to report the sighting.” It is unknown whether they will be launching a full-scale investigation into the event.

China.org.cn, a website based out of Beijing, reported that a “Tiangong 1-like unidentified flying object” was seen by multiple witnesses who were visiting Phoenix Mountain, a popular spot in Heilongjiang Province. Tiangong 1 refers to is China’s first space station. It was launched on September 29, 2011, and it is scheduled to be deorbited in 2013. It is unclear why the UFO was compared to the space station.
