I had a clear, unobstructed view of the objects flying by, the first two in tandem, the next 6 flying solo on the same course a few minutes apart. They were reddish orange, flying at about 5,000 feet, silent, and traveling at the speed of a jet. I observed the last 5 of them with high power binoculars. I would say that they were 50-100 feet in diameter.
I can assure you that these were not lanterns – laterns are nowhere near that large and do not fly hundreds of miles per hour. If you stood where I did last night you would understand that these were not anything made by man. I am still stunned 24 hours later.
I saw the same thing in houston last night. Three of them came going the same direction 3 to 4 min apart. No sounds, orange/amber light. I looked through a scope and could note see an outline of a plane against the moon light. Three witnesses saw the event including me.
Don’t think so, it was under powered flight and moving in a controlled manner. It also appeared far too large for a lantern. There was no significant breeze at the time and without power not sure how it would have later showed up moving in the opposite direction. At its closest point to us it appeared to have a very faint twin light following it slightly behind and off to one side.
Well that’s pretty interesting that you saw it as well and that it wasn’t a lantern in your opinion , thanks for sharing you observations Mike much appreciated.
We saw this too. It was a very slow moving orange ball, it appeared to be flickering like a campfire in the distance but was very close and did not appear to be making any sound. It made a north to south pass across Seattle before fading south of town. It appeared again rising up just east of lake union and headed north. Several planes were in the area as this is a flight path for the airport. This was not a plane. May not have been E.T. but was unidentified and flying for sure.
US military has crafts which reach Moon in 90 min and we went to Mars

Saw the same orange lights move up and across the sky, Ferndale, Wa July 4, 2012.
Looks like there are several reports of this sighting on MUFON site.
