Police have every right to respond to threats with brute force when necessary. But a recent case in Evansville, Indiana showed just how careless police can be when conducting such operations. The Evansville Police Department tracked a threat to an I.P. address, and carried out a heavy-handed raid at the residence. But the suspect wasn’t there. Cops only found an 18 year old watching TV and her grandmother. The reason they thought they had their man was because the house had an unsecured WiFi network. If only they had a minimal understanding of technology, they would have known anyone with an iPhone could have sent the messages using the router.
